ECU Remapping for Suzuki Outboard Engines (8HP to 350HP) – Stage 1 Tuning and Template

We offer advanced Stage 1 ECU remapping and XDF (definition) for Suzuki outboard engines ranging from 8 to 350 horsepower, equipped with Mitsubishi ECUs (file size 512kb and 1.25MB). This process involves recalibrating the engine control unit to optimize performance without compromising reliability or engine life.

What we adjust and what is available inside the Template:

• Optimized ignition timing for improved combustion efficiency
• Adjusted fuel delivery maps to match real-world load conditions
• Refined throttle response for smoother and more responsive acceleration
• RPM limiter recalibration where applicable, for broader usable powerband
• Torque management adjustments to allow full engine potential

Why is ECU Tuning Useful for Outboards?

Factory calibration is often conservative to comply with global emission standards, fuel variability, and to standardize performance across regions. This leaves significant untapped potential in the engine. With our Stage 1 remap, you can expect:

• Increased torque and power output across the rev range
• Better throttle response and smoother acceleration
• Improved fuel efficiency under load and cruising conditions
• Enhanced drivability especially under high load (towing, heavy boats)

Our calibrations are developed with engine safety margins in mind. We retain all diagnostic functions and protection strategies (e.g., knock control, overheating protection). Each remap is tested under real marine conditions to ensure reliability, performance, and fuel economy.

(*)What is a XDF? The xdf, otherwise called bin definition file, tells the tuning software how to explain each byte in a the file coming from your ecu’s bike. In simple terms, the definition explains that “the byte at position X in the original file should be multiplied, divided, or adjusted by values W, Y, and Z to produce a real-world value.”
ECU tuning software uses this information to convert raw binary data into a format that is meaningful and easy to understand for the user.
