ECU Remapping for Mercury Marine Kokusan Denki Template
We offer advanced Stage 1 ECU remapping and XDF (definition) for Mercury outboard engines ranging from 10 to 20 horsepower, equipped with Kokusan Denki. This process involves recalibrating the engine control unit to optimize performance without compromising reliability or engine life.
What we adjust and what is available inside the XDF:
- Optimized ignition timing for improved combustion efficiency
- Ignition timing corrections to optimize power, efficiency, and reliability of the marine engine under varying load and speed conditions
- Adjusted fuel delivery maps to match real-world load conditions
- RPM limiter recalibration where applicable, for broader usable powerband
- Idle RPM map based on temperature
Why is ECU Tuning Useful for Outboards?
Factory calibration is often conservative to comply with global emission standards, fuel variability, and to standardize performance across regions. This leaves significant untapped potential in the engine. With our Stage 1 remap, you can expect:

(*)What is a XDF? The xdf, otherwise called bin definition file, tells the tuning software how to explain each byte in a the file coming from your ecu’s bike. In simple terms, the definition explains that “the byte at position X in the original file should be multiplied, divided, or adjusted by values W, Y, and Z to produce a real-world value.”
ECU tuning software uses this information to convert raw binary data into a format that is meaningful and easy to understand for the user.
